The Alliance for African Assistance offers a wide range of services tailored to supporting underprivileged and immigrant communities. Through our programs we hope to not only empower, but to also provide opportunities, support and guidance. Our efforts begin by first raising awareness to the many challenges that these communities confront. To learn about the many resources offer at the Alliance, please click the links below.
Since 1995, Alliance for African Assistance has resettled from over 20 different countries. Our Resettlement Department is comprised of case managers, drivers and job developers all of whom play an integral role in the resettlement process for each of our refugees. Prior to a refugee’s arrival, the case manager assigned to the case prepares for the new individual or family by finding them an affordable apartment, furnishing the apartment with the basic necessities, and stocking their kitchen with food for their first week.
Refugee Employment Services is a program designed to help refugees, asylum seekers, and victims of human trafficking/torture obtain self-sufficiency and well-being for themselves and their families. Our Refugee Employment Service is comprised of five case managers, two job developers. Employment Services’ case managers work one-on-one with clients and their families many of whom are enrolled in the County of San Diego’s CalWORKs Program.
Alliance for African Assistance provides low-cost oral and written interpretation and translation services in more than 85 languages to the San Diego Community. As a proud member of the California Health Interpreters Association, Alliance for African Assistance is committed to ensuring accurate and professional interpretations.
The Alliance for African Assistance operates a non-profit Thrift Store which is dedicated to assisting and supporting refugees in meeting their basic needs required to adapt to their new homes. Frequently, many refugees arrive in the United States with nothing more than the cloths on their backs. Our Thrift Store helps to provide a wide selection of items such as furniture, mattress sets, appliances, clothing, and household items to help as they rebuild and begin their lives in the US.
